Rawdah Visit Etiquette and Rules
The Rawdah al-Sharifah is described in the hadith as a garden from the gardens of Paradise. Visiting it is a moment believers cherish for a lifetime — and a place whose honour asks for calm, patience, and consideration for others.
This guide gathers practical etiquette and the rules applied on site, so your short visit passes serenely.
Preparing for your visit
-
01
1
Arrive with time to spare
Be near the designated entrance before your time window opens, with wudu made and comfortable clothing. Late arrivals may lose their slot.
-
02
2
Keep your permit and ID ready
Have the Nusuk QR code open on your phone or printed, together with the identity document used in the booking.
-
03
3
Follow the stewards
Entry moves in organised groups. Follow the directions of the stewards and volunteers — they are there to give everyone a fair, calm turn.

Keep the visit brief and heartfelt
Time inside is limited. Offer your prayer, make your supplications, greet the Prophet ﷺ with salam, and leave graciously so others may take their turn.
Conduct inside the Rawdah
Preserve the tranquility of the mosque: speak softly, avoid pushing or rushing, and do not linger in one spot once your prayer is complete. Reserving places or holding spots for others causes crowding and is not permitted.
Keep supplications personal and quiet. Raising the voice — even in dhikr — disturbs those around you in a place devoted to serenity.
Phones and photography
Long photo and video sessions take space and time from fellow visitors. Keep your phone in your pocket as much as possible; the moments that matter in the Rawdah are lived, not filmed.
Follow the on-site signage and steward instructions about photography — rules can vary by area and time.
Women's visiting times
Nusuk assigns dedicated visiting times for women, and the women's entrance and route are organised separately. The same etiquette applies; choose the women's visit option when booking and follow the assigned entrance.
Visiting with elderly or disabled family
Wheelchair access is available, and stewards assist visitors with limited mobility. Plan a little extra time for entry, and mention any special needs to the staff at the gate.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the visit last?
Time inside is limited and managed by the stewards so that everyone in the time window can enter. Plan for a short, focused visit.
Can I pray any prayer I wish in the Rawdah?
Voluntary prayer and personal supplication are the essence of the visit. Keep them brief out of consideration for those waiting.
What should I bring?
Only your ID and permit QR code are required. Travel light — large bags slow the entry check.
Is there a dress code?
Modest dress in keeping with the mosque applies, as everywhere in the Prophet's Mosque.
Organising a group visit?
RawdahGo secures synchronized Rawdah appointments for entire groups, so your pilgrims enter together in the same time window.
